This collection is for the four mallet marimbist who is in the beginning or advanced-beginning phases of technical and musical development; i.e., a typical college freshman or high school senior. A subtitle to these solos might be “After Yellow After the Rain”, for there seems to exist a gap in the amount of literature at this important stage, particularly of the more recent variety. Pieces are often too difficult, too easy, or focus strictly on technical rather than technical and musical elements. More advanced players may also find these enjoyable to play. – Thom Hasenpflug
